How Tap.Giving Works

Transform your church's giving experience with our simple 3-step NFC process. No apps to download, no accounts to create. Just tap and give.

Also called tap-to-donate, tap-and-give, NFC giving, or contactless church collection. It all works the same way. Donors complete their gift with Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay, or any major credit/debit card on the church’s existing giving page.

Two ways to mount them

Every plate arrives ready to mount. Tell us which you want and we ship it that way, at no extra cost.

Peel and stick

3M adhesive comes pre-applied to the back of every plate. Peel the liner and press. Best on wood, metal, and hard plastic seat backs. This is what most churches use.

Screws

We can pre-drill mounting holes before printing, at no extra charge. The most permanent option, and the right call for older pews or anywhere a plate needs to survive decades of use.

Not sure which one fits your seating? Send us a photo of a chair and we will tell you. If your seating takes neither, plates also work well on welcome desks, entry tables, and bulletins.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about implementing Tap.Giving

What phones work with Tap.Giving?

Tap.Giving works with iPhone 7 (2016) and newer, and Android phones from 2015 or later. The phone must have NFC (Near Field Communication) enabled, which is standard on virtually all smartphones today. No app download required.

How much do the NFC plates cost?

Our transparent pricing ranges from $3.50 to $4.50 per plate based on quantity:

  • • 400+ plates: $3.50 each
  • • 200-399 plates: $4.00 each
  • • 100-199 plates: $4.50 each

No setup fees, no monthly costs, no hidden charges. One-time purchase that lasts for years.

Where should we place the NFC plates?

Popular placement options include:

  • • Chair/pew backs (most popular)
  • • Bulletins or programs
  • • Entry/exit areas
  • • Connection tables
  • • Lobby displays
  • • Children's ministry check-in

Place plates so one is within arm's reach, usually one per seat. Add extras in strategic high-traffic areas when useful.

How secure are the donations?

Security is our top priority. All donations are processed through PCI DSS compliant payment processors with bank-level encryption. The NFC plates contain no sensitive information - they simply redirect to a secure donation page. All financial data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and we never store payment information.

Do the plates require batteries or maintenance?

No batteries required! NFC plates are passive devices that are powered by the smartphone's NFC field when tapped. They're designed to last for years with zero maintenance. The plates are also waterproof and scratch-resistant, making them perfect for high-traffic church environments.

How long does shipping take?

Typical production and shipping time is 2-3 weeks from artwork approval. Rush service is available for an additional fee. Shipping is free to every destination we agree to serve, with tracking when supported.

Can we customize the plates with our church logo?

Yes! We offer full customization including your church logo, colors, and messaging. Our design team will work with you to create plates that match your church's branding and aesthetic. Custom artwork is included at no additional cost with every order.

What payment methods do donors use?

Donors can give using Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, or any major credit/debit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover). The checkout process is optimized for mobile and typically takes 15-30 seconds to complete. Recurring giving options are also available.

Can I point the plate at something other than a giving page?

Yes. The plate is just an NFC chip that stores a URL, and the URL can be anything. Churches use Tap.Giving plates for connect cards, sermon notes, prayer requests, event RSVPs, kids check-in, volunteer signups, podcast links, and donor walls. Each plate in your order can be encoded with a different URL, so you can mix and match destinations. See 10 ways churches use them beyond giving →

What if we don't have an online giving page yet?

No problem. The plates just need a URL to point to, so if your church doesn't have a giving or landing page set up yet, the simplest path is to create a free one and point your plates there. Two we often recommend are Linktree and the Nucleus Church Launcher. Because you control that page, you can change where it sends people anytime without reprinting your plates.
