For Catholic Parishes & Dioceses

Tap-to-Give for the Offertory, Without the Monthly Fee

Put a tap to give plate on every seat in your parish. A parishioner taps a phone, your parish giving page opens, and the gift is done in about eight seconds. One-time hardware. No app. No change to the platform you already run.

From $3.50 per plate, one-time No monthly fees Works with your giving platform

41%

Of total giving is digital at churches that offer it. The seat-back tap meets people where their wallets already are.

12x

More engagement from an NFC tap than a QR code in the best documented head-to-head test, so more of the offertory actually completes.

$0/mo

Monthly cost. Plates are a one-time purchase, unlike tap-to-give card terminals that bill per device every month.

The parishioner who used to drop a check in the basket now carries a phone and little cash. The offertory has not disappeared; it has moved to the phone. Parishes that make phone giving effortless in the pew are the ones holding their numbers, and NFC tap plates are the simplest way to do it: one-time hardware that opens the giving page you already use.

How It Works During Mass

1

Tap the plate

At the offertory, a parishioner holds a phone near the plate on the pew or chair back. No app to open.

2

Your giving page opens

The phone opens your parish giving page in its browser. The giver picks any amount and can set up recurring gifts.

3

Done in eight seconds

They confirm with Apple Pay, Google Pay, or a card. Your platform processes it and issues the receipt, as always.

Works With Your Diocesan Giving Platform

Tap.Giving is hardware, not a payment processor. Each plate opens whatever giving URL you encode, so nothing about your processor, fees, receipts, or reporting changes. Parishes on different platforms can run side by side across a diocese.

For One Parish or a Whole Diocese

A single parish

The goal is a plate within arm's reach, usually one per seat, plus a few for the narthex. A 200-seat parish is $800 once. Plates arrive pre-encoded with your giving URL and locked, ready to mount with adhesive or screws.

Parish giving guide →

A diocese

One combined order, shipped per parish, each on its own giving page. At 400 or more plates it is $3.50 each: a 20-parish diocese averaging 200 seats is about $14,000 once, no recurring fee.

Diocese rollout guide →

Being pitched tap-to-give card terminals? Those bill $20 to $35 per device per month. NFC phone plates are one-time, so you can cover every seat instead of one station. Here is the card terminal versus phone plate breakdown.

Questions From Parish and Diocese Finance Offices

Do NFC plates work with our parish giving platform?

Yes. Tap.Giving is hardware, not a payment processor. Each plate opens whatever giving URL you encode, so it works with ParishSOFT Giving, OSV, Pushpay, Vanco, GiveCentral, eCatholic, or a parish page. Your processing fees, receipts, and reporting do not change.

How is this different from the tap-to-give card terminals we have been pitched?

Those are powered card-reader devices that charge a monthly service fee per device, usually $20 to $35 per device plus about 2.75 percent, with a preset amount. NFC plates are passive: the parishioner taps a phone, opens the parish giving page, and chooses the amount. Plates are one-time with no monthly fee, so you can cover every seat. Full breakdown in our card versus phone guide.

Can a diocese order for all its parishes at once?

Yes. A diocese can place one combined order and ship plates per parish, each encoded with that parish's own giving URL. At 400 or more plates the price is $3.50 each, one-time, with free shipping. A 20-parish diocese averaging 200 seats is about $14,000 once. See the diocese rollout guide.

How many plates does a parish need?

The goal is a plate within arm's reach, usually one per seat, plus a few for the narthex. Plates are $4.50 each at 100 to 199, $4.00 each at 200 to 399, and $3.50 each at 400 or more, with free shipping and delivery typically 2-3 weeks from artwork approval.

Will NFC plates work with thick wooden pews?

Yes. NFC reads through wood, fabric, and plastic. The only surface that blocks it is solid metal. Pew backs, chair backs, and wooden offering boxes are all compatible, with adhesive or screw mounting.
