Small Circle Tap Tag: a navy round NFC tap-to-give tag reading Tap your phone here, with a QR code and a sample church name, shown at 2 in diameter (50 mm)

Tap.Giving Hardware

Small Circle Tap Tag

2″ diameter (50 mm)

About two quarters across

Tap.Giving’s 2″ round NFC tap tag is our smallest circle, for church spots a full plate will not fit: hymnal racks, cup holders, the edge of a chair frame. One tap opens your giving page, no app needed. It has the smallest antenna, so use it where people are close and tapping on purpose.

Where it works

Tight spots: hymnal racks, cup holders, the edge of a chair frame. Least room for artwork and the least forgiving tap, so use where people are close and deliberate.

Wood, hard plastic and smooth surfaces

3M adhesive backing, standard

3M adhesive tape is already on the back, so it is peel and press onto a clean, smooth surface. No tools, nothing to drill.

Upholstered or fabric surfaces

Pre-drilled screw holes, no extra cost

We recommend screws here. On fabric, tape grips the surface fibers rather than the panel behind them, and a padded back flexes against the bond. Plates with holes still ship with the adhesive on, so you can try tape and keep screws as the backup.

Metal chairs, railings or fixtures

Add anti-metal shielding, $1 per tag

NFC will not read through metal, so a tag mounted flat on metal needs a shielding layer behind the chip. It is charged only on the ones that actually go on metal.

How it mounts, up close

Real photos of our plates, not renderings. Shown on round plates; this size ships with the same backing and the same screw-hole option.

Common questions

Will a 2-inch tag tap as well as a bigger plate?

Not quite. Read range comes from the size of the antenna coil, not the chip, and the practical ceiling is about a 50 mm coil, which a 2″ tag sits right at. It works well where people are close and tapping deliberately. If they will tap in passing, size up to 3″ or 4″.

How does it attach?

Every plate has 3M adhesive on the back, and pre-drilled screw holes are available at no extra cost. On wood, hard plastic and other smooth surfaces, the adhesive is all you need. For upholstered or fabric surfaces we recommend the screw holes: tape on fabric grips the surface fibers rather than the panel behind them, and removing it later can lift fibers. Plates with holes keep their adhesive, so you can try both.

Will it work on metal?

Only with the on-metal option. NFC will not read through metal, because the phone’s field induces currents in the metal instead of powering the tag, so the tap does nothing at all. The on-metal version adds a ferrite shield behind the chip, for $1 per tag on just the ones that go on metal.

Can someone change where it points?

Not by tapping it. Our plates ship locked by default, so the link written to the chip cannot be overwritten. If you would rather be able to rewrite it yourself later, ask for unlocked when you order.

Do we have to switch giving platforms?

No. A tap opens a web page, so it points at whatever you already use: Tithely, Pushpay, Givelify, Subsplash, Planning Center, a Church Center link or your own website. Tap.Giving sells the hardware, not the processing, and takes nothing per gift.
